Dr Valálik completed his doctorate in 1982, and in 1989 certified as neurosurgeon. After fellowships in neurosurgical clinics in Sweden, Switzerland Germany he orientated to stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. In 1996, he started ablative surgery for movement disorders, and in 1998 he performed the first surgery in Hungary with deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease. Since 2001, he is developing a planning software for stereotactic biopsies and functional stereotactic operations. His scientific interest mainly focused on movement disorders, PET and MR imaging, voice analysis and passive marker-based motion analysis, diffusion-tensor imaging and neuronavigation. He also studied the effect of decompressive craniectomy after severe traumatic brain injury. Since 2010, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. Maried, has 3 childs.
