Dr. Venkataramana Kandi is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar, and affiliated to KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal. He has done his Masters in Medical Microbiology from Manipal University in India, and after registering for a Ph.D. from Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, India, he completed his doctoral research on HIV disease management in a highly active antiretroviral therapy era. He has also been awarded a Ph.D. by publication (ASU-America). He has also completed a Ph.D. in clinical research, at the University of Central Nicaragua, Nicaragua. He is conferred with the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (London, UK). He has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He was elected as Member (MAMS) of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) for the year 2017. He is a life member of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) (LM 1919) and the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) (AMI/LM465/3231/2013). He is also a member of the Asian Council for Science Editors (ASCE). He has presented and published nearly 325 research papers at national and international conferences and journals. He received more than 7000 citations for his research papers. His research interests include wide areas of medical microbiology, with a special interest in HIV research, antimicrobials, and infections prevalent in these rural populations. He is on the editorial board of more than 25 International journals and is an invited reviewer for prestigious journals like the Emerging Infectious Diseases (CDC journal) (2008, 2009).
