About
Prof. Dr. med. Hanno Steckel is a specialist in orthopaedics surgery, serving as a clinician, researcher, and academic educator.
He studied medicine at the universities of Kiel, Münster, Paris, and Denver, and earned his doctorate in 1998.
In 2006, he was awarded a fellowship by the German Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery and spent that year at the University of Pittsburgh under Freddie H. Fu. In 2009 he became medical director of the MVZ Vitalis in Berlin.
He habilitated in 2008 at the University of Göttingen with a work on the “double-bundle concept for anatomical anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction” and in 2012 was appointed with teaching privileges in orthopaedics and trauma surgery at the university of Göttingen. Steckel is active in scientific societies, including ISAKOS, ESSKA, EKA, DGOU, DGOOC, and others.
In his public outreach role, he appears in media as an expert on musculoskeletal health, and he is the author of books such as Genial beweglich! (2018), Nicht übers Knie brechen (2020), Schmerzfreie Hüfte (2022) and Arthrose – Die beste Therapie finden (2024).
