Dr Deepak Amarapurkar is a consultant gastroenterologist at Bombay Hospital & Medical Research Centre and Jagjivanram Western Railway Hospital, Mumbai. He has been an investigator for many trials on different aspects of liver disease. He has organized many national and international conferences.
He received Gold Medal at M.D. Medicine examination, Bombay University Merit scholarship during DM. Received Best resident award and consecutive 3 years best research paper award. Also received Young Investigator award at 10th World Congress of Gastroenterology 1994, Asian pacific Congress 1996, Asian pacific congress at 1998. Received Best paper award at INASL meeting 1998, 1999,2000.
He delivered 3 named orations at Annual General meeting of Association of Physicians of India. Also gave Late Dr. Salaskar memorial Oration in Goa and Late J N Berry Oration in Nagpur.
Dr. Amarapurkar is a member of many Indian and international professional societies and is a Fellow of American college of Gastroenterology. He has served as a member in several consensus panels dealing with the management of Hepatitis B & C, NASH, and minimal hepatic encephalopathy formed by organizations like Indian Association of the Study of liver and Asian Pacific Association of the Study of liver. He also served on the Asia pacific association of gastroenterology consensus panel on management of NAFLD and hepatocellular carcinoma Hep C, Hep B and EHPVO. He is a member of several prestigious bodies like European Association of Study of Liver & International Association for the Study of the Liver, International Liver Transplantation Society and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He is also on a reviewer board on various national and international journals.
With over 200 papers presented at conferences, 300 articles published in various national and international journals and contributing more than 15 chapters in various text books. He serves on the editorial board of Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, World Journal of Gastroenterology. World Journal of Hepatology, Euroasean Journal of gastroenterology, International Journal of Hepatology & Bombay Hospital Journal. He was a guest editor of special issues on Hepatology & therapeutic endoscopy for Bombay Hospital Journal. Also he was a guest editor for a special issue on Emergencies in gastroenterology of Indian Society of Gastroenterology & Special issue on improving survival in patients with liver cirrhosis.
