About

Dr. Panjwani is an experienced Radiation Oncologist. He has held leadership positions in Oncology in various provinces in Canada.
He immigrated to Canada in 1990 from Kuwait, when the war broke out there due to Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait, and completed his Radiation Oncology Residency training at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 1993. Prior to coming to Canada, he was a Hematologist and Bone Marrow Transplanter, having trained in the same at the Royal Free Hospital in London, England. In Kuwait, besides initiating the country’s Bone Marrow Transplantation program, he also worked as an Organ Transplant Physician in the Department of Organ Transplantation, where renal, liver and pancreas transplants were performed. He has a number of publications in the fields of bone marrow and renal transplantation.
In Canada, he introduced the concept of ‘Pure’ Hypofractionation in prostate cancer, and initiated a Phase II study on that in 2005, at the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, which was continued and completed by his colleagues there long after he left that centre, and has recently been published. Pure Hypofractionation is now widely accepted in the Ultra-Hyprofractionation regimen for Prostate Cancer, and practiced in Regina also.
At SCA, he hopes to introduce widespread use of SBRT, including its use in oligometastatic disease, and also introduce the concept of neo-adjuvant radiotherapy in locally advanced Breast Cancer.
