Information we collect and how we use it

Registration

In order to become a member of the Curēus community, you must first create an account on our web site. To create an account you are required to provide information including, but not limited to: full name, specialty, medical school, degree type, email address and you are required to create a password.

Profile Information

Once a user, you may provide additional information in the Profile section. Providing information beyond what is required is entirely optional.

IP Address and Cookies

When you enter Curēus, we collect your browser type and IP address, as well as the URL of the site from which you came. Your IP address reveals nothing personal about you other than the IP address from which you have accessed Curēus. This information is gathered for all Curēus visitors and is used to analyze overall trends to help us improve the service provided by Curēus. In addition, we store certain information from your browser using “cookies”. A cookie is a minute data file which resides on your computer and allows Curēus to recognize you as a user when you return to our site using the same computer and web browser. You can remove or block the cookies used on Curēus by using the settings in your browser if you wish to disable this feature.

Third Party Email Addresses and Contacts

In order to invite your colleagues to connect with you on Curēus, you will enter their names and email addresses. The names and email addresses will be used only to send your invitation.

Site Use

When you use Curēus, you may upload papers, edit papers, review papers and rate/discuss papers. In most cases, we retain this information to enable you easier use of Curēus. When you update information, we usually keep a backup copy of the prior version for a reasonable period of time to enable reversion to the prior version of that information.

While using the Curēus service and Web site, you will have opportunities to post scores, opinions or other personal information. Information collected in conjunction with such uses of the site is not used to personally identify you outside of the Curēus community. You agree not to contribute content that is a) defamatory, libelous, obscene, indecent, abusive, threatening or illegal. You agree to indemnify Curēus and its officers and employees from and against all liabilities, judgments, damages and costs (including attorney’s fees) incurred by them which arise out of or are related to content you contribute.

Minors

Minors are not meant to use or access the site. Minors are not eligible to use our service and we ask that minors do not submit any personal information to us or use this service. In the case that a minor inadvertently provides information, we respect the rights and privacy of the minor.

Information Sharing

Demographic Information

Curēus may share aggregated de-identified demographic information with Curēus partners. This is not linked to any personal information that can be used to identify any individual user.

Partners

Curēus partners with other organizations to provide more benefits through the service. Whenever we offer combined services with partners, it will be your choice to make use of the services or not. In these cases, your personally identifiable information will only be passed from Curēus to the partner if you choose to use the service.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

We do not provide contact information to third party marketers without your permission. We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is 1) legally required or 2) permitted by you.

Curēus will never sell, rent or otherwise provide your personally identifiable information to any third parties for marketing purposes.

Legal Disclaimer

It is possible that we may need to disclose personal information when required by law. We will disclose such information wherein we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to comply with a court order, ongoing judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on our company or to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

Curēus may contain links to other sites. The linked sites are not necessarily under the control of Curēus and therefore are not protected by the stated privacy policy. Please be cautious when leaving the Curēus site and read the privacy policies of any websites you link to should you have any concern.

Other

Notification of Changes

Curēus reserves the right to change our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use at any time. The date the policy was last modified will always be posted in connection with the policy.

Termination of Service

If at any time you wish to terminate your account with Curēus, you may do so by notifying the Admin. Please note that previously collected data about your usage, forum posts for example, will remain in our database and will be protected by the Privacy Policy outlined here.

Sale of Assets, Merger, Acquisition or Bankruptcy

Information collected from you may be transferred to a third party as a result of a sale or acquisition, merger or bankruptcy involving Curēus.
