About

Oxycodone is a potent opioid medication primarily used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It belongs to the class of drugs known as opioid analgesics, which work by binding to opioid receptors in the brain and spinal cord, thereby reducing the perception of pain.

Oxycodone is available in various formulations, including immediate-release tablets, extended-release tablets, and oral solutions. The immediate-release form is typically used for acute pain management and is usually taken every 4 to 6 hours as needed. The extended-release formulation is designed for around-the-clock pain relief and is taken every 12 hours.

Due to its effectiveness in pain management, oxycodone is commonly prescribed for conditions such as post-operative pain, injury-related pain, cancer pain, and chronic pain conditions where other treatments have proven ineffective.
