About

Dr. Tami Peterson is the esteemed founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Oxford Center, a world-renowned integrative and neurological treatment facility situated in Brighton and Troy, Michigan. The Oxford Center is a pioneering institution in the United States that offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, intense neuro-physical therapy/suit therapy, nutrition therapy and medical services, neurofeedback, and the largest environment in the nation for Natural Environment Teaching through The Village of TOC.

Dr. Peterson's path to establishing The Oxford Center has been paved with many years of dedicated service in the field of education. She has been an expert and advocate for special needs children in Michigan and Indiana and has rendered her services to schools and children in South Lyon Community Schools, Lansing Public Schools, Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative, and Centreville Public Schools.

The inception of The Oxford Center was brought about by a personal crisis involving Dr. Peterson's daughter, JeAnnah, who contracted viral encephalitis at the age of nine. Her extensive search for a cure led her to hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which helped her daughter make a complete recovery after several doctors told her there was nothing more to be done. This experience prompted Dr. Peterson to establish The Oxford Center, which has achieved remarkable success in the treatment of neurological disorders and continues to inspire her team to find innovative ways to promote lifelong health for their clients.

Since its establishment in South Lyon in 2008, The Oxford Center has expanded to include a location in Troy and has moved its original location in South Lyon to a 68,000sqft facility in Brighton. Dr. Peterson's unwavering passion for helping children led her to establish the Oxford Kids Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to assisting children with disabilities, chronic illness, and traumatic injuries in gaining access to therapies and medical care not covered by insurance. The Foundation has granted over $2.6 million dollars to aid children and young adults in Michigan, and an annual gala organized by Dr. Peterson raises over $150,000 for the cause.

Dr. Peterson has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Spring Arbor University, a Master of Arts in Special Education from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts in Education Leadership from Indiana University, Fort Wayne, and her Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Wayne State University. Her contributions have been widely recognized, and she has received several awards and accolades.
