As Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, Assessments and Outcomes, GME at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA), I am dedicated to customizing learning experiences that guide future leaders to higher levels of performance. Through growth and change, I have been a champion for the osteopathic profession in many roles. As a board certified osteopathic general surgeon, my leadership experiences include clinical leadership roles as Surgery Department Chair, Physician Advisory Council representative to a hospital corporation, General Surgery Residency Program Director, and a member of multiple hospital committees. At the national level, I have participated on the Board of Governors for the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) holding all executive positions including the presidency in 2015. I am a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical coalition. I am a Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I have been active with the American Osteopathic Association as a member of the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialty Societies, the Bureau of Graduate Medical Education, and Bureau of Federal Health Policy. I am currently the Vice Chair of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Osteopathic Recognition Committee, and participated as a standard setting panelist for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) COMLEX-USA Level 2 Performance Examination (Biomedical/Biomechanical Domain). In my present role at ATSU-SOMA, I participate in multiple academic committees, research/grant projects and service responsibilities enhancing the future education of the osteopathic physician.
