I like to be known as an anatomist and researcher. Both of these fields are my passion.
After completion of my M Phil (Anatomy) course work, I was thinking what else I could do for Anatomy so that nobody can claim that it’s a static subject. I was finding my way through a Facebook-page “We Like Anatomy“(https://www.facebook.com/groups/143655808984106/), where I am one of the admins, to present Anatomy to the learners in an interesting manner so that they began to like Anatomy. As a teacher, I wanted to mention the applied part of the topic to bring attention of my students towards learning Anatomy through outcome-based approach. To me Anatomy is the subject to understand, through viewing. During my teaching as a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, with the collaboration of my colleagues of Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology and Pharmacology we developed an android-based app AUVIMED (Audio-Visual Medical Dictionary) which is an integrated virtual platform of blended learning. For copyright issue I am unable to share the apk file with you, but I am attaching the poster of the project we presented at PEREKA’15 (a University platform to present innovation and research) where it received gold medal. I am also involved in developing a MOOC (https://www.openlearning.com/umsmooc/courses/ums-mooc-fundamentals-of-human-central-nervous-system/homepage/) which is an introduction of human central nervous system, also an integrated approach from Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. Though these works are very much preliminary, yet we are stepping forward gradually.
