Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the public awareness of AIDS in Saudi Arabia, while looking into society’s attitude towards AIDS patients. Conclusion: This study showed results corresponding with findings of other previous international AIDS studies. Despite a large percentage of participants were knowledgeable regarding AIDS transmission and misconceptions, they still viewed AIDS patients negatively and were socially avoidant of them. This study also showed presence of a social stigma towards publicly discussing AIDS.
