Curious Case of Goodpasture's Flare During Pregnancy- Twice

Abstract

Goodpasture’s is a rare autoimmune disorder with limited data on incidence and prevalence in pregnancy. According to the literature, patients presenting with hemoptysis and end stage renal disease have poor long-term outcomes. Pregnancy is an exceptionally dangerous period for patients with Goodpasture syndrome as it has been shown that the autoantibodies are capable of binding to tissue other than the glomerulus, such as the placenta. Goodpasture’s presents with increased risk of fetal growth restriction and compromise due to placental insufficiency, which may necessitate early delivery and lead to complications of prematurity.
