Abstract
This poster highlights recent advances in the assessment, management, and pain control of acute musculoskeletal conditions, emphasizing the growing role of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks (UGNBs). Current evidence shows that UGNBs provide rapid, targeted analgesia, reduce the need for systemic opioids, and improve safety during common emergency and outpatient procedures. Key developments include improved point-of-care ultrasound technology, wider clinician training, and expanding use of blocks such as femoral, fascia iliaca, interscalene, popliteal, and erector spinae plane blocks. Early, effective pain control and ultrasound-guided techniques enhance patient comfort, reduce complications, shorten emergency department length of stay, and support more efficient care. Multidisciplinary collaboration among emergency clinicians, primary care providers, anesthesiologists, and rehabilitation teams further strengthens outcomes and promotes safer, opioid-sparing management of acute musculoskeletal pain.
