Early Clinical Diagnosis of Pyloric Stenosis in a 12-day old Male Infant

Abstract

In this captivating case study, we unveil the early diagnosis and treatment of pyloric stenosis in a 12-day-old infant. Exhibiting excessive, non-bilious, projectile vomiting and an inability to regain birth weight, the infant's condition was accurately diagnosed through abdominal ultrasound. The swift surgical intervention led to a successful resolution of the condition without complications, highlighting the crucial role of early detection and treatment in infants with pyloric stenosis. The study delves into differential diagnoses, epidemiology, pathophysiology, symptoms, and various treatment options, while emphasizing the importance of meticulous history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic imaging. This case underscores the need for vigilant monitoring of infants to identify early signs of pyloric stenosis and ensure prompt medical attention, ultimately preventing complications and improving patient outcomes.
