Gallbladder Malakoplakia

Abstract

Gallbladder malakoplakia is a rare inflammatory disorder. Malakoplakia, literally meaning “soft plaque,” occurs mostly in the genitourinary tract, but uncommon occurrences in other organ systems have been reported as well. The pathogenesis of malakoplakia is thought to be related to bacterial infection, immunodeficiency, or chronic inflammatory conditions. We present a case of a 45-year-old female with gallbladder malakoplakia
