Fog1 is Under the Transcriptional Control of Gata2 in 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes

Abstract

The zinc finger transcription factor Gata2 is implicated in erythroid differentiation in hematopoietic cells. Gata2 mediates a subset of these actions by interacting with the Friend of Gata (Fog) 1 and 2 cofactor proteins. Furthermore, Gata2 is highly expressed in adipocyte precursor cells in adipose tissue where it negatively regulates adipocyte differentiation by interacting with CCAAT/enhancer binding proteins (C/EBPs) β and δ, and by suppression of PPARγ transcription. The function and regulation of Fog proteins during Gata2 mediated inhibition of adipocyte differentiation is unknown.
