Abstract
Low level laser therapy also known as “Cold Laser” works on the principle of biostimulation. This biomodulatory effect plays a pivotal role in accelerating the healing process and provides analgesia.
Lasers act on cellular reduction-oxidative potential , stimulates lymphocytes, activates mast cells and increase production of ATP in mitochondria acting as anti inflammatory, furthermore lead to improved proliferation of epithelial cells, increased blood vessels and increased production of granulation tissue
Low level laser therapy has shown promising and effective results in treatment of various orofacial diseases like xerostomia, burning mouth syndrome, mucositis, lichen planus, TMJ disorders. The Poster reviews the literature on the benefits of Low level laser therapy and discusses the emerging therapeutic utility in multiple orofacial lesions.
