About
Percocet is a prescription medication used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It is a combination of acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer) and oxycodone (an opioid pain reliever). Opioid medications work by binding to receptors in the brain and spinal cord to block pain signals.
The dosage of Percocet depends on the severity of the pain, the individual's response to the medication, and other factors. The usual starting dose for adults is one to two tablets every four to six hours as needed for pain. The maximum recommended daily dose is four tablets.
