What Is Vicodin?
Vicodin is a painkiller tablet. It contains opioids (Hydrocodone) and nonopioid (acetaminophen). This medication is prescribed to patients suffering from moderate to severe pain. Hydrocodone alters how your body feels and responds to pain in the brain.
Precautions and Warnings:
Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all of the products you use, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements.
This medication should be used only when clearly necessary during pregnancy as it could be harmful to an unborn child.
Because of the increased risk of serious side effects, such as slow or shallow breathing, Hydrocodone is not recommended for use in children under the age of six.
Do not share the medication with anyone. Use for the prescribed ailment only
Do not start, discontinue, or modify the dosage of any prescribed medication without first communicating with your doctor.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you should keep naloxone on hand in case of an opioid overdose. Teach your family or household members how to recognize and treat an opioid overdose.
