I graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine and completed my residency at the Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Department of General Surgery. My main research and scientific activity interest is surgical infections.
I worked for "The National (Turkish) Surgical Infection Prophylaxis Guideline" on behalf of 'Surgical Infection Society - Turkey' which I'm not only a founding member but also a Board member from the very beginning. Now I'm the President of the society (http://cerrahienfeksiyon.org.tr/).
I have been actively working for Surgical Infection Society – Europe for the last 25 years. I was the Congress Secretary of the 21st European Congress on Surgical Infection. I was at the Council of the Society for 13 years. I served 3 years as "Councilor at large", 3 years as the Recorder, 2 years as Secretary, one year as President-elect, 3 years as President, and one year as Past President.
I am also a founder member of World Surgical Infection Society and am now on the Executive Board serving as Secretary (https://www.worldsis.org/copy-of-board-of-directors).
I've been working also for World Society of Emergency Surgery and now representing Turkey as 'National Delegate' ( https://www.wses.org.uk/national-delegates).
I'm on the 'Editorial Board of Surgical Infections Journal, the official Journal of the Surgical Infection Society-North America, Surgical Infection Society-Europe, Surgical Infection Society-Latin America, and the Chinese Society of Surgical Infection.
