Pranab obtained his MBBS degree from Medical College, Kolkata, Asia's oldest teaching medical school, and then went on to do his MD Residency in Preventive Medicine from University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi University. He is currently working as a Senior Research Associate (Infectious Diseases), at the Public Health Foundation of India in Delhi. 

His interests lie in infectious diseases, especially emerging and zoonotic infections, medical and health policy, medical education, and healthcare social media or Health2.0.
