About

I am an Assistant professor at the department of Biophysics in Yeditepe University, School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. I have obtained my Ph.D. degree at the department of Biomedical Engineering and Physics in University of Amsterdam, Academic Medical Center, The Netherlands, in 2014.
My main research interest is focused on the influences of various cardiovascular pathologies on cardiac and vascular function, specifically vascular remodeling. I currently have wire and pressure myograph systems in my lab, in Turkey. I measured vascular stiffness with wire and pressure myograph systems during my Ph.D. studies. In addition, I used variety of approaches including hypertension and flow restriction animal models, genetically modified animals; cell based experimental models and simulations. I think to provide better life conditions for elder individuals, targeted and more effective drugs should be developed for cardiovascular diseases. Currently, I am working on a project called “Prevention of atherosclerotic plaque formation by targeted and controlled delivery of transglutaminase inhibitor” supported by national research and science institute. The aim of the project is to develop an aptamer controlled releasing drug carrier system for the treatment of atherosclerosis.
