I am a vascular sonographer researching the use of transcranial color duplex (TCCD) to investigate hemodynamic characteristics following brain arteriovenous malformation resection. I am particularly trying to establish whether TCCD can elucidate hemodynamic predictors of hemorrhage risk or when it is a safe timeframe to wean patients from aggressive blood pressure control given the known complication of devastating post-operative hemorrhage that can occur. This particular case study is the first TCCD study to demonstrated venous flow alterations following VP shunting and will be cited in the final paper (drafted) to highlight the significant venous flow alterations that occur post arteriovenous malformation resection.
