Howard Routman, DO, is an Associate Clinical Professor, Division of Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Nova-Southeastern University, and has been in clinical practice at Atlantis Orthopaedics since 2001. Dr. Routman is also the Director of Palm Beach Shoulder Service and the President and Founder of Palm Beach Shoulder and Sports Medicine Foundation, a local non-profit organization promoting educational research and injury prevention. Dr. Routman obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He attended Nova-Southeastern Medical School where he graduated with highest honors. He completed his internship training at Ohio University’s Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and his Orthopaedic Surgical training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was selected Chief Resident. Dr. Routman was selected as a Fellow in Shoulder Reconstruction at Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Due to his work as a fellow on the rotator cuff deficient arthritic shoulder, he was awarded the Revere Cup for excellence in clinical research by the Hughston Society. He has been involved in FDA sanctioned research on complex shoulder disorders and has traveled and operated on shoulders internationally. Dr. Routman is involved in the design and modification of Orthopaedic surgical instruments and implants for shoulder surgery.
