About

Alexander Neumeister, MD, is the Director of the Molecular Imaging Program for Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Radiology at New York University Langone Medical Center. Dr. Neumeister was previously an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Vienna in Austria. He was also the Director of the Molecular Imaging Program at the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorders and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Neumeister worked for the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at the National Institutes of Mental Health, and is the previous Director of the Translational Research Program for Mood and Anxiety Disorders at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He has received NIH and other funding to conduct molecular imaging studies of stress related disorders. He has received numerous national and international awards, including the A.E. Bennett Award of the Society of Biological Psychiatry. He has published in leading neuroscience journals, and serves on the councils of both public and federal institutions.
